The first sunny day

The first sunny day
Zelda sighed as she sat under the shade of a tree near one of the many bridges of Hyrule. The green and yellow patch blanket she had brought with her blended so well amongst the green and yellow grass of Hyrule Field that anyone walking by would think that the princess was sitting on the bare grass itself.
She looked around. The field was as empty today as it had been when Ganondorf had taken over the castle some 14 years ago. Over the hill to her right, she could hear the hustle and bustle of Hyrule Castle Town. She smiled at the thought of her people at peace, at last.
Yet she waited for someone. Someone very special to her.
Zelda picked up a pebble that sat just beyond her blanket and threw it into the river in front of her. The water's surface, though it was running rapidly downstream, attempted to create a ripple. It was carried downstream as the young princess watched.
Still, she waited.

Re: The first sunny day
Zelda pulled her legs up beneath her and hugged them. She leaned her head on her knees and turned her attention to the sky above her. Through the green leaves and branches over her, she could see the puffy, white clouds floating in Hyrule's peaceful field.
Hearing a sound behind her, Zelda jumped to her feet and faced west, awaiting the owner of that sound. Her face dropped when she realized it was just a squirrel who smelled her egg salad sandwich and had wanted a small piece.
Squatting down, she addressed the squirrel,
"Hello, resident of Hyrule. Would you like something to eat?"
The squirrel stood up on its hind legs and tilted its head on one side as if to say that it did not understand a word that Zelda just said. Zelda chuckled to herself before pulling out a quarter of a sandwich out of the picnic basket sitting on her blanket and holding it out, offering it to the squirrel.

Re: The first sunny day
Zelda took a bite of her sandwich as she watched the squirrel nibble away on it's piece. She looked out onto the field, but still, no one came.
She sighed again. Why had no one come? Where is everyone? She had packed a great lunch, yet had no one to share it with. Finally making up her mind, she stood up and brushed off her dress.
"Well, my dear squirrel." she said, addressing her only companion, "I must now leave you for I must search for my friends." A breeze blew as she straightened up, her blond hair blowing in the wind. She picked up her picnic basket and blanket and headed back to Hyrule Castle to get her horse.
