A Blast From The Past.......
Ok as some of you may know, I used to manage and design my own websites like crazy years ago when we were all little Neopets/Gaia geeks. Remember those days? Well, back in those days, I used make some amazing stuff (not trying to toot my own horn, but I am quite amazed at myself looking back on those days). No matter how great my graphics, etc. were, there was always a few people who complained about it.
"Oh, I want more stuff."
"I wish it were better."
"It's too big/small."
"I'm lost. The website confuses me."
Of course, hearing all of this REALLY made me upset and sad because I worked so hard on it!
Well sadly, life happened and I had to stop web design and creating graphics and it's been about 4-6 years since I've done anything in relation to it. Which also means I've been free of rude people dissing my creations-----UNTIL TODAY! After all these years!!!
On Twitter, you know I use it to promote my videos, voice overs, etc. Today, I tweeted about my website. Guess what? One person told me "Your website is too wide." ...............................I admit that this REALLY pissed me off!!! Because in my mind I'm thinking..........their screen resolution must be VERY small because the content area on my page is ONLY 800x600 at least! So I told them, then your screen res must be too small. =/ He said that his resolution is 1337 by 700something. I informed him that 1900 and higher is the new standard..........So he showed me a screenshot of what my website looks like on his screen. -.-;;;; So I'm just like omg....... I am NOT going to cater to ONE person and fix this issue. If people can't see my website correctly, tough luck!
I've dealt enough with picky people in the past to EVEN care about fixing this now!!!

Good they shall deal with it. I've experimented with a Dreamweaver demo before, and it was uber frustrating because apparently it looked messed up on one browser as compared to another. Of course my little noobish HTML source code looked like baby words compared to modern site syntax. However I have a liking for the Flash program. But I'm going to college as a computer engineering.
But long story short away from diversion, Malon, I think its great that this is your passion. And don't let anyone prevent you from persuing it. Do you consider studying graphics in college? or what do you normally do if you're already in something else? Oh wait. you are 29. so you must be out already?

Re: A Blast From The Past.......
Bleh, I'm still in college and I just turned 32.
I'm pursuing pharmacy though. Although...
My boyfriend recently asked me if that is what I really wanted to do or if I only wanted to do it because my parents are pressuring me to have some sort of doctorate.
Come to think of it, I really don't want to be a pharmacist, but I have to admit that the money is very very enticing.
But what I really want to do is be a linguist. I don't know how much they make though and if a career change at this point would be worth it. I guess it would be since it would be what I would like to do.
Gyorg, that's hecka cool! You know, if you want to try some stuff for class on the guild, feel free!
Malon, I'm sorry about the people that criticizes your stuff. I think your graphics are amazing. And Gyorg's right, don't let people discourage you from it. And you should take a class or two in graphic design like in the local community college or something. My boyfriend pursued that for a little bit so he was able to study stuff like that z-brush thing. And he's really good with photoshop now. I mean, he was good before, but he's even better after taking a class.

And yeah, don't some people realize that websites look different depending on your browser and screen resolution?

And the Triforce of Wisdom speaks through your soul, my princess. I dunno how much graphics I will do as a computer engineer but it would be something cool indeed. Because I can't draw in real life. But I can definitely tell a computer how to make shadows and stuff.
